Hello Rotarians, first of all I want to let you know this Rotary Year, our Foundation Trustee Chair is PRIP K.R. Ravindran.
On “the Rotarian July 2020” he shared a little Taoist story with us. I am not going to put the whole story in this message but just abstract it into a compend as follows:
What we learn from the story is that nature is immensely complex. It’s impossible to tell whether anything that happens is good or bad, because you never know what the consequences will be. All we can know is that with every action and reaction, there is an opportunity— a chance to live our values, express our desires, and take action to make the world a bit closer to the way we want it to be.
The Rotary Foundation is our conduit to make those meaningful changes. Through the Foundation, we do our part to help rid the world of polio. In addition, we can help support import COVID-19 projects and prepare the world for the massive vaccination effort that will be needed soon. And we can help keep some continuity in service to people in need when so many regular services are being disrupted.
Secondly I am happy to tell you that this year our DDF available for District Grant is US$143,354.00 (approximately). District Grant Application Form has been sent to all clubs. Please note that online submission is preferable and deadline is 31/8/2020. Please consult PP Alice TSANG, Chair of District Grant Subcommittee for more information. DDF available for Global Grant is US$416,900.00(approximately). GG Applications can be submitted at any time around the year. Please note that there is a new change on GG Match, and a new program of Scale Grant from July this year. Only on cash contribution portion will not be matched by the World Fund. And International Sponsors now need to contribute only 15% of the project budget, not 30%. Please consult PDG Ada CHENG, Chair of GG Subcommittee for more information.
On Rotary Scholarship, PP Frankie LAM of RC Hong Kong, Chair of Rotary Scholarship Subcommittee has sent a circular to all clubs for their individual interest.
Lastly, COVID-19 has definitely brought the word perspective to the forefront for all of us. Across our global network of clubs and participants to the very top of our organization, COVID-19 has placed us all in unprecedented territory. Uncharted waters for sure. Far from business as normal. Leaders at all levels of our organization are faced with decisions they never believed they would encounter. Leaders at all levels of our organization asking for guidance on how to deal with this global pandemic relative to our organization.
Let us continue to support TRF, to help all those in need, and let Rotary Opens Opportunities.
