September Is Basic Education and Literacy Month

Basic education and literacy is one of The Rotary Foundation’s seven areas of focus. It is essential for reducing poverty, improving health, encouraging community and economic development, and promoting peace.

Rotary Clubs are encouraged to continue to offer scholarships / bursaries for secondary, undergraduate, or graduate studies; these are given by individual clubs and are open to anyone except Rotary members and their families.

The Rotary Foundation and clubs also invest in our future leaders and philanthropists by funding scholarships.

  1. Rotary peace fellowships offering to college graduates and   professionals to study peace and conflict resolution. These include in a master’s degree or certificate program at one of our six partner universities.
  2. Global grant scholarship for graduate students studying abroad in one of   the Rotary’s seven causes:

  a.  Promote peace

  b.  Fighting disease

  c.  Providing clean water, sanitation, and hygiene

  d.  Saving mothers and children

  e.   Supporting education

  f.  Growing local economies

  g.  Protecting environment

Clubs in D3450 are encouraged to participate in sponsoring students for scholarships. For more details, please contact TRF Program Team.

District 3450 Major Donor Recognition Status

As of end of August, we have a total of 254 Major Donors and among that, there are 11 AKS members.

We want to create a better future and make a difference. We know we can’t do it alone; we need your support and Serve to Change Lives!

What is Arch Klumph Society?

Named after the sixth president of Rotary, the Arch Klumph Society (AKS) was established to acknowledge and recognize The Rotary Foundation’s highest tier of donors — those who have contributed US$250,000 or more during their lifetime.

AKS Chair’s Circle Member (US$500,000 to US$999,999)

1.I know that you have been an AKS member since 2015, why did you donate to the Rotary Foundation?

“I think it’s one of the most fundamental responsibility as a Rotarian. I’d rather donate to TRF than other organizations as I shared the same believe as TRF  – to help people in need around the world to have a better life. End Polio best exemplified our Rotary spirit, and we won’t give up until we eradicate this disease.”

2. What do you want to share with our Rotarians in supporting The Rotary Foundation (TRF)?

“As a Rotarian, we need to support TRF if we truly believe in the   organization we joined and shared its vision. We have many ways to show   our support from donating through EREY (Every Rotarian Every Year) and   Paul Harris, etc. One should choose the most comfortable way to support no   matter it’s through action or in monetary terms if you’re being inspired by   TRF’s good work!”

“Each club should explain to new members about TRF and how does the   organization have been making a difference in the lives of millions of   individuals globally around the 7 Areas of Focus. Let’s remind our members   who have been committed in participating meaningful projects to showcase   their good work and influence other Rotarians to also make a difference to   the world.”

“Rotary will constantly find it necessary to seek new fields of service. Think of the possibilities of helpful service in developments in science, education, art, health protection.”

– Arch C. Klumph, 1917
